Frances L. Davis

I bring you greetings from the Tacoma Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated. The Tacoma Chapter has within its geographic boundaries the majestic Mt. Rainier and the man-made marvel known as the Tacoma Narrows Bridge.  The Narrows Bridge crosses the pristine Puget Sound waterway known as The Narrows and stretches between the cities of Tacoma and Gig Harbor.  At the northern end of the city, beautiful Point Defiance Park and Zoo spreads over 702 acres and is the 2nd largest metropolitan park in the United States.

We are an award winning chapter; membership includes Delta Divas and extremely active Delta Dears. Our Dr. Betty Shabazz Delta Academy and Dr. Jean L. Noble Delta Gems take their place proudly with the sorors when the chapter attends the largest annual Martin Luther King Day Celebration in the country on the 3rd Monday of January.

The Northwest Corner of the United States is protected by the numerous military bases in the Tacoma area including Fort Lewis Army Base, McChord Air Force Base, and Naval Base Kitsap on the Olympic Peninsula comprised of the former
Naval Station Bremerton and Naval Submarine Base Bangor.  Many of our sorors are active-duty military members or spouses of service men.

Ours is a chapter of diversity and proud heritage.

As a result of the strong military influence upon the Tacoma Chapter with sorors not having the support of extended family in the area, the Tacoma Chapter is indeed "a family".  You will be greeted and welcomed home with Delta love and sisterly support upon attending a chapter meeting.

Welcome home my sister ........
